Product:  Glass Solar Filter fits Meade Lightbridge 12"

A Note of Thanks

Today my son Gabriel, age 9, saw the sun through our Lightbridge 12, thanks to your amazing filter. There were no sunspots, but it didn't matter. Gabriel is quite the young astronomer, he has already earned his Messier Certification, and today he saw the sun through his own telescope. After OOing and Ahhing for quite a while, he got very quiet and as he continued to look at the sun he said:
"It's amazing that I'm looking at the source of my life. It's the closest, most beautiful, most amazing star."

What more is there to say? except THANK YOU.

This filter works really well !  Astronomy is a new hobby of mine, and buying a sun filter was something that I was slightly unsure regarding my judgment on.  This filter was suggested to me, by Steve, and it filters the sun
awesomely ( as my son states).  We can watch the sun for quite some time, and it is a very clear filter.  The suns details are visible, and since I have dropped the filter several times it is very sturdy, it did not break !
Thank you for a great product, we hope to get quite a lot of use out of it.

Review:

I was frustrated using the thin film solar filters and had been on the look out for a quality glass filter with which to view the sun. This item from Seymour Solar fit the bill perfectly. It has a very sturdy metal ring enclosing the glass filter not only with a set screw to ensure it doesn't fall off but with padded "spacers" that can be used to make the filter fit the exact size of my ETX125 scope. Solid construction, safe to use since it will not fall (or be blown) off the end of the scope, and easy to transport for quick looks at the sun. An outstanding product and people to work with if you have questions about the product or your order.

This is the only solar filter I've ever bought so I can't compare to any other. It displays the sun a natural yellow with a black sky. At first I thought something was wrong why I couldn't see any sun spots but they finally started appearing on march 27. I was surprised to see them in such detail. I would recommend this filter to anyone interested in the sun. It fit perfectly on my 10" Zhumell. Thanks. Jim

Review:

We recently received a Seymour solar filter for Cameron Park Community Observatory's portable Nighthawk Aplanat scope. Worksmanship and attention to detail is excellent. The glass surface is free of any apparent blemishes and totally devoid of pinholes. The image of the solar disk is clean and uniform in brightness and optical quality. We were able to put the filter to use the next day with a group of 100 elementary school students observing both with a Hydrogen alpha scope and in white light on the Nighthawk. Our Solar Certified Docent team was particularly pleased with the unique filter locking screw, which provides additional viewing safety when in use. Our Seymour equipped scope will be in frequent use at schools throughout El Dorado County, and we're convinced that we now have the best solar filter on the market today. Thanks for a quality product.

I was happy to provide a product review for your product. You will find
it under the filter for the Nighthawk Aplanat scope.
We were distressed when a teacher dropped our Thousand Oaks filter on a
concrete floor, but since your filter arrived to replace it we think it
was a blessing in disguise. The El Dorado County Office of Education
was very concerned about solar viewing safety; so much so that it took
16 months of discussion and the creation of a formal instructional
program for Solar Certification before the first student was allowed to
step up to the eyepiece. Your filter with the safety screw has provided
an additional layer of confidence in the safety of our program.
We're pleased to support your product.

Review:

I received my Off-Axis Seymour filter just in time to view the new sunspots, 987 / 988 / 989, and Wow! I am truly impressed and very pleasantly surprised! I've owned a Meade filter, as well as a homemade Baade film filter, so I thought that I knew what to expect. Boy, was I wrong. The color and clarity with my new Seymour filter are superb, and its construction is of the highest quality. I never realized that the sun could look so good through a standard telescope until I put a Seymour filter on mine.

It is a great experience to receive such a fine product. Thank you, so much!

I use an SF232 on a Stellarvue F50 finder. Steve at Seymore Solar makes a great piece of glass. I love the warm orange color that the filter delivers.

Steve is also great to work with, and will work with you to make sure you get the filter that fits your rig.
